Welcome Spring! Hi! My name is William "Bill" Christison. I’m a bilingual North American English teacher and have been teaching English in Madrid, Spain for company English classes and private English classes for twenty-four years. I offer freelance English teaching from a highly experienced teaching professional with his own effective methodology suited to the student's individual needs. As regards focus and class structure: You tell me. You the student know better than anyone else what you need. What's important is having the support of a good English teacher who can show you the shortest way to your goal. Nobody likes to waste time. (¡La vida es demasiada corta!) Since my speciality is teaching busy adults in the business and professional fields, I strive to be as flexible as possible in accommodating the student’s timetable as well.

English classes with support and just the right method

Since you've read this far, we needn’t dwell on the cliché of how essential and indispensable English is these days. For whatever the reason, what you need is to communicate more effectively in English, that’s why I offer basic English classes, general English classes, English revision, business English, and English conversation classes. Whether they be English classes programmed for an entire course or merely a few specific sessions to prepare for an exam, an international conference, an important interview, etc., I am at your disposal. In some cases, the student already has the material he or she needs, and we can concentrate on this; this does not rule out the revision of certain grammatical points as we go, however, in order to strengthen your command of the English language. Frequently, I also give online support to students for help with any document they may be preparing, whether it be an e-mail, fax, letter... I have access to a wide range of the latest teaching texts. I also use my own specially prepared material which I am continually perfecting and updating. Engaging, relevant topics--this is crucial. Like an English teacher once said on a web page some place somewhere (if not in La Mancha then surely in Madrid) with reference to learning: Learning is discovering the world around us--new things, and doing so in a nice relaxed atmosphere makes for ever greater progress (See: English Classes ).

Student and teacher

That's how it is with executives and professionals whom I’ve taught in places like BBVA, Grupo Santillana De Ediciones, S. L. ;Crisol; Dorna Sports S. L.; Abarrategui Arquitectura- Urbanización; Ediciones del Prado, S.A. as well as with the private English classes I give at my downtown Madrid residence. A good number of these individuals have continued with me for several years, others have left and returned. These are typical veteran learners (probably like yourself) who have studied with more than one academy-supplied teacher during their careers. The latter either fell short of their expectations or, having the good fortune of being offered a quality teacher, the students ended up losing the person for economic reasons. And it is here, if you’ll permit me to paraphrase another who really was from La Mancha: With the intermediary we’ve come against, Sancho.

English and classes

The novice teacher earns his salary and the academy providing him or her with work takes its handsome cut. It's the overhead. In this highly competitive market, a provider constantly hunting clients and scrambling for native teachers has plenty of it. Yet, there is demand. Many companies are only too glad to forgo the paperwork and resources wasted on teacher hunting and tracking, an academy is an attractive alternative. Yet, experienced teachers and students alike know that in such cases it is often a matter of either ending up with a good, poorly paid teacher for a short time, or a mediocre, well-paid teacher forever. Wouldn't it be better, then, to hire a language professional? Why not follow the example of world class companies when selecting an English (French, German, etc.) teacher for their upper level employees? Go to the source. Before the class begins, we will arrange a meeting for which you are under no obligation whatsoever. This meeting is intended solely for determining your English level and discussing your needs. Then, if you wish, we can choose a method as well as a suitable timetable for our English classes. Once an agreement is reached, neither advances nor signatures are required. We will agree upon the fees which, with regard to price / quality, you'll find hard to match.
